Refelction over the Chinese letters

I love the experience that I have gotten from these letters.  It has been so great to be able to talk to somebody who is clear across the world. I love how they are so kind and they love talking to me.  I thought it was kind of funny when I went to read all my letters every single one of them had something to say about my relationship with my boyfriend. They all said how there in China they usually aren’t allowed to have boyfriends until college unless they are kept secret from their families. They have to spend a lot of time studying and families there believe that if you have a boyfriend/girlfriend then they will just take away time from studying.  I responded to pretty much all of the emails and I asked them about some every their everyday things and its crazy how different our cultures are. It was great to wake up yesterday and see that two girls responded back to me again. I love being able to talk with other girls around the world. It’s great because I have always wanted a pen pal and the two girls that I keep talking to are all about us being friends. I just want to thank you Ms. James for having this idea and giving us such a great experience.

  1. It's nice that these students are so willing to take the time to stay in touch. I thought it was sad that they are kept from relationships until they are older; high school is so important to develop relationship skills

  2. I wish I would have said something about my relationship in my autobiograpgy! I bet the comments that you had were really interesting. I would have enjoyed hearing their opinions about that.

  3. I think it is so interesting that the students were so intrigued by you having a boyfriend. I bet that brought up a lot of questions and good topics to talk about.
